Free and open source software (FOSS) thrives on community. The best software means nothing if people don't know about it. Community outreach, if done right, creates connections, spreads knowledge, and shows people there is a better way than being stuck in the trap of proprietary lock-ins.
Community-driven events fuel the FOSS ecosystem worldwide. Conferences and meetups bring developers and enthusiasts together to learn and collaborate. Now, a new community is bringing that energy to India.
UbuCon India 2025: India's First UbuCon

These UbuCon events are volunteer-organized conferences for Ubuntu and FOSS. They are run by and for the community and are not corporate showcases, which many community-driven events regrettably turn into.
India is getting its first UbuCon this November, organized by the Ubuntu India LoCo. If you didn't know, an Ubuntu LoCo is a local group of people that promotes Ubuntu and FOSS in their region.
UbuCon India 2025 aims to bring together developers, contributors, users, and FOSS enthusiasts. The event is set to cover tracks like desktop environments, cloud infrastructure, IoT, documentation, and AI. The goal is showcasing Ubuntu and other related tech advancements while growing an India-based community surrounding it.
Did I mention we, It's FOSS, are the official media partner for this? Now you know. 🎉
