Proton has been steadily scaling up its family of privacy-focused services. Not too long ago, they introduced Emergency Access, a way to give trusted contacts control of your account if you can’t access it yourself.
Now, they are back with a big update for their Proton Mail mobile apps. Both iOS and Android versions have been rebuilt from the ground up to make them faster, smoother, and more consistent.
Modern Smartphone Apps for Proton Mail

The first thing you’ll notice is speed. Opening messages, scrolling through your inbox, and moving emails around all feel snappier. Proton says common actions like those are now twice as fast as before.
The design has also been refreshed. The layout is cleaner, with easier access to common actions like composing or archiving, making the app feel more modern.
Under the hood, Proton Mail’s iOS and Android apps now share about 80% of their code. This means fewer bugs, more reliable updates, and feature parity between the two platforms.
Another useful change is offline mode. You can read, write, and organize your emails even when you don’t have a connection. Everything syncs automatically once you’re back online.
From now on, Proton promises new features will land on both Android and iOS at the same time. No more waiting for one platform to catch up.

At the time of writing, the Android version on the Play Store hadn’t received the update yet. Proton says it should roll out soon. iOS users, however, can simply grab the latest version from the App Store.
